Overview
Built in 1908 for Dr Gelston, the village doctor, Ixworth House is a magnificent Edwardian property retaining and displaying a wealth of exceptional and original features associated with a home of the early 20th century. These include original leaded and stained glass windows, sweeping staircase, period fireplaces, plaster cornicing and panelled internal doors throughout.
Ixworth House has also received outstanding guest reviews on TripAdvisor.co.uk and LateRooms.com.
The three spacious en-suite bedrooms available to B&B guests have been decorated and equipped to a very high standard. Two rooms are en-suite shower rooms whilst the third room has a roll top bath with a shower over.
Ixworth House has ample off road parking and stands within generous grounds of approximately three quarters of an acre.
It offers a quiet, peaceful stay. Within less than 5 minutes walking distance, the village of Ixworth has a choice of two public houses, both serving food. Alternatively, a reservation can be made for a table at Theobalds, an excellent restaurant which provides a superb menu with seasonal dishes. The award winning Leaping Hare restaurant of Wyken is just a few miles down the road. Additional restaurants and places to eat can be recommended and are within a short drive of Ixworth. During the day, the High Street Café offers a full range of snacks and light bites. A good range of friendly village shops includes a newsagent, ladies fashion, antiques and the Post Office. We also have two hairdressers, a beautician and seam-stress.
