Overview

Built in 1853 to commemorate the repeal of the Corn Laws, the Free Trade Hall has been at the centre of life in Manchester for almost 160 years.

The building has been bombed, abandoned, rebuilt several times and seen much controversy.

It has also enjoyed many lives – a political arena, concert hall and rock venue with a most diverse range of famous people appearing on stage -  Winston Churchill (hailed as his most brilliant speech),  Bob Dylan (Judas gig),  Pink Floyd (performed prior to album release), the Sex Pistols (started the Punk era) and the Dalai Lama (the last speaker).

Finally, it was reborn in 2004 as a magnificent luxury 263 bedroom hotel, award winning restaurant and must visit spa. It retains its original façade, heritage and famous artefacts plus it is still at the heart of Manchester life.

Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester celebrates 10 year milestone!

Located in Manchester’s historic Free Trade Hall and the original home to the Hallé Orchestra, Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester has brought a new generation of award winning luxury to one of the city’s oldest and most iconic buildings over the past decade.

As the hotel of music in Manchester, displays of autographs provide a snapshot of the many stars who performed there during its years as a world famous music and theatre venue; a tradition the hotel continues with signatures from its high profile guests today. Many of them, such as Louis Armstrong, Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey and Bob Dylan, are also immortalised in the names of the hotel’s deluxe suites, including 20 al fresco suites that each feature a covered terrace set within the Free Trade Hall’s original brick façade.
