When the 160-year-old Lady Glenorchy Church was converted into The Glasshouse Hotel in 2003, Scotland exchanged one iconic piece of history for another. On arriving at The Glasshouse Hotel, there is something immediately distinct about the Category C Listed weathered stone facade, with an elegant crenellated tower and Gothic-style arch-shaped windows. This is because of the hotel’s history — once a church, then in 2000, demolished to leave only the front of the building. What was constructed in its place is a hotel with 77 rooms and Edinburgh’s most secret rooftop garden.
