Our history

 

Oslo Golf Club, established 1924, is the oldest golf club in Norway. The first golf shots were hit one autumn day in 1924. Except for the 2nd World War period, when people grew potatoes and other vegetables on the course, we have been playing golf here ever since. Over the years the club has invested in several course upgrading. The original area for golf has been changed and is today one of the most compact golf courses in Norway. As we are the only 18-hole course within the Oslo city limits, keen golfers frequently play our course. + 25.000 rounds every season, which lasts from May to October.

 

Reconstruction in 2008

After many years of wear and tear the course was worn down, and in 2008 the course was closed for a total reconstruction. Steve Forrest, one of amerces best course designers, designed our new course. MS Golf did the work supervised by our own people. With triple drainage, fully automated water irrigation system, sub-air under all greens, sand capped fairways, “sportcrete” in all bunkers, bent grass on greens, tees and fairways, our new course is among Europe’s most technologically advanced, and we believe that the course design will meet both the average golfer’s needs for challenge and at the same time be a tough challenge for the professional golfers for many years to come. The work was done in record time and we reopened Bogstad may 31st 2009. The feedback is unanimously overwhelming, and both members and guests seem to love what we did to the course.  

 

The golf club by the lake of Bogstad

 

The Oslo Golf Club’s course is beautifully situated around the Bogstad Lake. The par 71 championship course measuring about 6300 m is a truly unique design with long par 3s and water coming into play on several holes. The view of the waterfall on the 12th hole right next to the green is quite rare. The players who would prefer a shorter total distance have a great variety of lengths as the course offers tees approximately 4900 m, 5400m, 5800m or 6000m. The series of par 3s, 4s and 5s are enjoyable and challenging for all golfing categories.
